Integrate Data Facts (IDF) Hosts Landmark ACES and PIES Executive Summit in São Paulo, Unifying Brazil’s Automotive Supply Chain

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – October 9, 2026 – Integrate Data Facts (IDF), the trusted leader in Latin American automotive aftermarket intelligence, together with the Auto Care Association, successfully hosted an executive training and data standardization summit in São Paulo, Brazil. The gathering—titled “O mundo já fala ACES e PIES: um movimento para a padronização de dados no Aftermarket” (“The World Already Speaks ACES and PIES: A Movement for Data Standardization in the Aftermarket”)—brought together top industry leaders at the Hotel Grand Hyatt São Paulo to accelerate the adoption of global cataloging standards across South America’s largest automotive market.

Summit Performance & Participation

Data standardization has officially moved from a technical backroom discussion to a top-tier corporate strategy for the Brazilian automotive sector. The exclusive executive event drew strong engagement from across the industry:

  • Executive Attendance: 42 key industry representatives participated in person.

  • Industry Leadership: 26 major companies were represented, with prominent delegations from AutoZone, Bosch, General Motors, Mahle, SEG Automotive, Wega Motors and Gauss, alongside major players including Dana, Forvia/Hella, Schaeffler, Valeo, ZF, and MercadoCAR.

  • Program Depth: 6 intensive hours featuring 9 specialized technical presentations delivered entirely in Brazilian Portuguese.

  • Expert Panel: 4 featured speakers, including IDF Brazil team members Mauricio Penteado, Romeu Fontana, and Leopoldo Munhoz, alongside guest speaker Igor from Brazilian startup Hubbi.

Brazilian Fleet Mapping and AI Readiness

Since 2020, IDF and the Auto Care Association have systematically mapped the Brazilian vehicle fleet into the Vehicle Configuration Database (VCdb). This ongoing initiative has produced a comprehensive Brazilian Vehicle Dictionary, with translations and terminology meticulously localized by Brazilian engineers.

The summit also addressed the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in cataloging. While AI dramatically accelerates product registration, speaker presentations emphasized that AI requires structured, standardized data to function effectively; without frameworks like ACES and PIES, AI merely automates existing catalog disorder.

Executive Commentary & Team Celebration

“Data standardization delivers its full value when adopted collaboratively across the entire chain,” stated Leopoldo Munhoz, ACES & PIES Ambassador in Brazil and IDF leadership representative. “A single company can organize its own catalog, but when an entire sector speaks the same language, it transforms the entire market and everyone wins.”

IDF celebrated its dedicated local team in Brazil—Mauricio Penteado, Romeu Fontana, and Leopoldo Munhoz—who led technical sessions on VCdb coverage, PIES digital asset management, and supply chain integration.

“Standards only generate true commercial value when backed by accurate, reliable data,” stated Evaristo Garcia, Founder and CEO of Integrate Data Facts. “Celebrating 16 years as Latin America’s primary data partner, we are tremendously proud of our team in Brazil for uniting the leaders of the industry. IDF remains fully committed to supporting our local team and regional partners with the data infrastructure and training needed to lead the future of digital cataloging.”

The Powerhouse States

Vehicle concentration remains centered in Brazil’s urban and industrial hubs, led by São Paulo:

  • São Paulo: Leads the nation with over 15.4 million light vehicles in circulation.
  • Minas Gerais: Holds second position with close to 6 million units.
  • Paraná: Ranks third with 4.0 million light vehicles.
  • Regional Drivers: Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, and Bahia remain critical states for VIO concentration.

The 23-Million Unit "Aftermarket Sweet Spot"

IDF identifies an “Aftermarket Sweet Spot” of over 23 million light vehicles within the 11-to-20-year age range:

  • Core Segment: Vehicles aged 11–20 years account for 45% of total VIO.
  • Fleet Maturity: 81% of total vehicles in operation are less than 20 years old.
  • Model Longevity: The Volkswagen Gol remains the market favorite with 3.8 million units in operation—leading its closest competitor by over 1.5 million units.

Chinese Makes and Electrification Reality Check

The report clarifies the actual footprint of Chinese manufacturers and alternative powertrains:

  • Chinese Makes: Represent 1.1% of total VIO, totaling 585,363 units. Chery (36.5%) and BYD (31.1%) lead, while Haval has rapidly emerged with a 9.7% share.
  • Electrification: Combined, pure electric and hybrid vehicles account for 1.34% of total VIO. Notably, for the 2025 model year specifically, alternative fuels reached 8.5% penetration.

“Showroom success and road reality move at different speeds,” stated Evaristo Garcia, CEO of IDF. “While Chinese makes and EVs arrive fast, legacy giants like Fiat (21.3%), Volkswagen (20.1%), and Chevrolet (18.0%) still control nearly 60% of total VIO and will dominate parts demand for the foreseeable future.”

Mexico’s Vehicles in Operation (VIO) Reach Record 36.1 Million at Year-End 2025, Reports Integrate Data Facts (IDF)

Celebrating 16 years, IDF emphasizes its role as a trusted data partner in Latin America,

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – February 5, 2026 – Integrate Data Facts (IDF), the leader in Latin American automotive aftermarket intelligence, today released its 2025 Year-End Vehicles in Operation (VIO) study for Mexico. The country’s total vehicle parc has reached a historic peak of 36.1 million units, signaling a resilient market with long-term opportunities for the global automotive aftermarket.

The comprehensive study analyzed the vehicle population from model years 1961 through 2026. Data shows the automotive fleet continues to expand in volume while maintaining a high average age of 16.2 years—a primary driver for service and parts demand.

2025 Market Performance vs. 2024

The Mexican vehicle fleet shows steady growth across key segments, with 2025 setting a new benchmark for the region:

Metric2025 Year-End2024 Year-EndGrowth (YoY)

Light Vehicles35.0 Million34.0 Million+2.9%
Med. & Heavy Trucks1.1 Million1.1 MillionStable
Average Vehicle Age16.2 Years16.2 YearsStable

The Shift: From Cars to Versatility

Historically a passenger-car market, Mexico is seeing a significant shift in its VIO mix toward trucks (SUVs and Pickups). While cars still hold the majority, the preference for larger, versatile platforms in new sales is shifting the total vehicle parc makeup:

  • Cars: 56% (Down from 57% in 2024)
  • Trucks (SUVs/Pickups): 35% (Up from 34% in 2024)
  • Vans: 6% (Stable)
  • Med. & Heavy Trucks: 3% (Stable)

The 14-Million Unit "Modern Segment"

Despite the mature VIO, the average age held at 16.2 years due to solid new sales. IDF identifies a “Modern Segment” of almost 14 million vehicles within the 2016 to 2025 model year range.

“This segment now accounts for 37.9% of the total VIO,” stated Evaristo Garcia, CEO of IDF. “The influx of 14 million newer units has effectively counterbalanced the legacy fleet, preventing the average age from climbing despite the survival of older vehicles on the road.”

The Chinese Makes Reality Check

The report clarifies the impact of Chinese Makes—such as MG, BAIC, BYD, Chirey, and Geely. While capturing high new-sale shares, their penetration in the total Mexico vehicle parc is still in the early stages:

  • Light Vehicles: Chinese makes represent 1.2% of the light vehicles VIO.
  • Medium & Heavy Trucks: Penetration is higher in the commercial sector at 4.5%.

“Showroom success and road reality move at different speeds,” Garcia added. “As these makes entered recently, it will take decades to deeply penetrate a fleet of 36.1 million. Legacy makes will continue to dominate demand for the foreseeable future.”

Mexico Reaches Record 35.1 Million Vehicles in Operation, Reveals Integrate Data Facts (IDF)

Rochester Hills, MI – February 27, 2025 – Integrate Data Facts (IDF) today announced the results of its 2024 year-end Vehicles in Operation (VIO) study for Mexico, revealing a record-breaking 35.1 million vehicles now circulating on Mexican roads. This significant milestone underscores the growing demand for automotive products and services in the country.

The comprehensive study, covering vehicles from model years 1961 to 2025, encompassed cars, vans, SUVs, pickups, and medium and heavy trucks. Key findings include:

  • Total VIO: 35.1 million vehicles
  • Light Vehicles (Cars & Light Trucks): 34 million vehicles
  • Medium & Heavy Trucks: 1.1 million vehicles
  • Vehicle Type Breakdown (ACES Classification): 57% Cars, 34% Trucks, 6% Vans, 3% Medium & Heavy Trucks
  • Average Vehicle Age: 16.2 years, a slight increase from 16.1 years in 2023.

The rising average vehicle age has significant implications for the automotive aftermarket. An older fleet necessitates increased demand for spare parts, maintenance, and repairs, creating substantial opportunities for businesses serving the Mexican market.

“The 16.2-year average age signifies a large population of vehicles requiring consistent maintenance and repairs,” stated Evaristo Garcia, IDF’s CEO. “This translates to a robust demand for automotive parts and services, ensuring the continued mobility of the Mexican population.”

Even in light of recent trade tariffs, the 35.1 million vehicles in operation are already on the roads and require essential resources such as fuel, spare parts, repairs, and tires. It is crucial for companies within the automotive aftermarket to effectively serve and support Mexico, ensuring the country’s continued progress amidst this record-high vehicle count.

“With 35.1 million vehicles in operation, the automotive aftermarket plays a critical role in keeping Mexico moving forward,” Evaristo added.

The New Aftermarket Opportunity in Mexico: Motorcycles & Powersports at Year-End 2023

Article by: Evaristo Garcia – Founder, IDF – Integrate Data Facts LLC

It is well known that Mexico is one of the largest countries in the world when the VIO size is considered for cars and light trucks. Recently, however, sales of motorcycles and many other Powersports vehicles have really taken off. Reaching 8.5 million units, it is certainly an important market for motorcycle and powersports aftermarket players. Motorcycles have just started to appear in Mexico at significant speeds; this can be seen by the relatively low average age of the vehicles at only 6.2 years.

New powersports sales continued at dramatically high levels, and powersports VIO closed at its highest ever at 8,466,723 units. This includes: street motorcycles, off-road motorcycles, ATVs, scooters, and utility vehicles. Close to 96% of the vehicles are less than 20 years old. This leaves room for a lot of years and vehicles to be sold before the average age reaches high levels; in other words, there is still room to grow in a market with a furious appetite for more motorcycles.

Probably the two most important notes for the VIO at year-end 2023 are that the VIO actually grew at dramatic speeds, and the second most important comment is that the average vehicle age has continued to slowly decrease and stay really low, making the powersports in Mexico some of the youngest in the world by that measure. The average vehicle age has a long way to go before it catches the cars & light trucks, which is so high in Mexico. If one looks at the bar chart with the age distribution, it would appear like all vehicles are in the first column with 0 to 10 years of age!

The VIO is clearly concentrated in large cities, particularly in central Mexico. As an example, Mexico City, with over 2.0 million units, and Mexico State, which surrounds Mexico City, also has almost 1.6 million units. Jalisco is the third-largest VIO state with over 900,000 million units. Other really important states for the VIO concentration are: Puebla, Nuevo Leon, Guanajuato, and Queretaro.

Powersports participation map of Mexico, December 2023

The VIO in Mexico is concentrated on several makes, such as Italika, which commands an impressive 25.6% and has continued growing its leading position in the VIO for the last 5 years. In second place, Yamaha, with 8.1%, is far from Italika. In third place, we can see BMW with 6.8% and Vento with 6.7%.

Pie chart illustrating the distribution of powersports vehicles in Mexico for 2023

Several of the top makes are globally popular, such as Yamaha, Honda, BMW, Suzuki, Kawasaki, or Harley, to name a few. But what about the number one: Italika? During the last 15 years, Italika came from nowhere to overtake the Mexican motorcycle market, making a strong push in Mexico and very quickly climbing to the top. The aggressive growth of Italika continues and will continue to be reflected in the VIO. In 2004, Italika began selling in Mexico, and in 2008 it began manufacturing its motorcycles in-country. The rest is history.

Street motorcycles dominate the VIO of powersports in Mexico with almost precisely 65% of the market. Followed by scooters with 19.6%. Street motorcycles and scooters together represent 85% of the VIO for powersports in Mexico. The other categories together — ATV, off-road motorcycle, and utility vehicles — are just over 15% of the VIO market in Mexico.

Pie chart illustrating powersports distribution in Mexico by make at year-end 2023

It should not be surprising that street motorcycles represent such a large part of the pie since street motorcycles are used frequently to deliver anything from a pizza, spare parts, dinners, medicines, etc. They have proven to be very practical in the new home delivery economy. Besides that, both street motorcycles and scooters have also proven to be very practical and economical as personal transportation, in many cases replacing the need for a much more expensive car or truck.

One of the most popular motorcycles from Italika is actually sold as “dual-purpose”. Meaning that it can go well on the roads of Mexico, or any dirt or gravel road. It is a relatively simple motorcycle with a 150cc engine. In general, motorcycles with low ccs (cubic centimeters) are the norm.

Because of the current VIO size of close to 10 million units, and the extremely aggressive growth during the last few years, the Powersports already represent a serious opportunity for the aftermarket in Mexico and clearly indicate that this will continue growing for the years to come. Whoever is able to establish themselves as aftermarket leaders right now will be able to enjoy the rewards for the years to come. It is infrequent that a new market is born with such speed and size in just a few years. That is why this is a brand-new opportunity for the aftermarket in Mexico!
